The following UDHS paid subscription databases provide the best in quality research. They are reviewed and checked for accuracy and relevance and are provided by our high school library media center.  All databases are accessible at school or from home.   For all  EBSCO programs use username: udhs and password: udhs1.   For CultureGrams use username: dublin and password: cgrams.  For all other programs use username:udhs and udhs.

EBSCOhost is a multi-disciplinary reference system that offers a wide range of full text databases. It includes general references (dictionaries, encyclopedias), newspapers, and subject databases covering business, health, education, government and politics, and a number of other subjects.  From this portal, you can access the following databases:

EBSCO's Student Research Center is an interface designed specifically to help you identify the most appropriate research tools for easily obtaining information from many of our EBSCO databases.  It allows you to search all of the same databases as EBSCOhost, but in a format that's easier to understand.

 When Do I Use This Database?

This database is helpful for all of your researching needs.  It's perfect for every class at every level.  You just need to make sure that you narrow your results by selecting the SPECIFIC area you'd like to research!

AP Image Collection

 What's In This Database?

AP Images Collection is a primary source database with millions of images from 1826 to present and more than 3,500 additional photographs are added daily. The collection also includes 36,400 audio sound bytes dating from the 1920s and more than 2,900 multimedia interactives. The multimedia interactives represent a compilation of integrated video, graphics and photos that bring the latest news and educational topics to life. In addition, AP Images Collection provides 2.7 million Associated Press news stories from 1997 to present, and a professionally produced collection of more than 340,000 maps, graphs, charts, logos, flags and illustrations.

This database is helpful when you need to add images to projects or in classes where you need to use primary resources.

**It is VERY important that you cite these images so that the photographers receive credit for their work.**

Points of View

Points of View Reference Center contains a balance of materials from all viewpoints, including more than 1,300 main essays, leading political magazines from both sides of the aisle, newspapers, radio & TV news transcripts, primary source documents and reference books.

This database is helpful for Social Studies assignments. It's especially helpful for the Senior Project and Speech & Debate.

What's In This Database? 

This database includes a complete archive of the Scientific American journal.  The database provides users with the ability to read, save, and print individual articles. 

**The subscription and license for this database is based on IP address.  This means that you do NOT need a user name/password to access the archive, but it also means that you CANNOT access it outside of the high school.  In other words, you will NOT be able to access this from home!**

Noodle Tools is a computer program that will help you create bibliographies and cite sources.  You can save your research for multiple projects in one place, accessible on any computer with an Internet connection.

Access PA

 What's In This Database?

The Access Pennsylvania Database is a project of the Pennsylvania Department of Education and the Office of Commonwealth Libraries, was started in 1985 as a way to provide a union catalog that includes the holdings of all different types of libraries across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. It was the first, and remains the largest, statewide union catalog in North America, containing approximately 22.2 million titles, including books, eBooks, periodicals, DVDs, and more, with over 73.3 million holdings.

**To access this database from home, you MUST use the bar code on the back of your public library card.**
